BLOG 12 - It Works...

...It Really Works - Looking Back

10-03-16

Little than we know it, our CapaciCar adventure is coming to an end. *Cries*

It’s been 6 months since the start of this exciting, fun filled, adventure, when we had little idea how our project was going to plan out. What we know however, was that we were going to have a heck of a good time together! - Just look how pumped we were!

Our epic final year saw us go through many challenges and obstacles, from working out how to connect our power circuit to deciding who’s bringing meeting snacks each week. (That was pretty stressful) But we also have plenty of fun experiences, including numerous team socials like GoKarting, pubquiz and birthday celebrations!

But our project wasn’t just fun and games. A lot of time was spent at our headquarters (ie. LT502) working out our design concepts and requirements. Every Monday we would have our weekly team meeting to keep track of progress and discuss on our next tasks. - Led by our team manager Andrew!

With the car design was completed, things quickly moved from the meeting room to the shop floor! - We also said goodbye to Eric who returns back to Brazil :( For 2nd Semester we spent a lot of time at the workshop getting our hands dirty. With our safety glasses and lab coats, we carried out backbreaking tasks like sawing, drilling, filing and hammering (All about those gains!) Our hands on experience from previous years definitely helped us and kept us safe!

At last, after a month long of build and testing, our creation is born! We even took it out to test on a rare dry sunny day in Glasgow, and the car ran smoothly as we planned! And we had to take this awesome pic with our car! - Missing Alastair who was away for an interview :( .

To finish off, the last 6 months has been one memorable and rewarding experience. The project would not have been this successful without everyones contribution and dedication. We are certain that our final year project will be achievable in the future where one day capacitor-powered vehicles will become a norm for real life applications!
